Don't Confirm James Comey For FBI Head

Waterboarding is a disgusting crime, and those who don't speak out against it are as guilty as those who condone and perform it.

This is really personal for me. I was born in the Philippines at the Los Banos Internment Camp. My parents had spent the duration of the Japanese occupation there and at Santo Tomas in Manila. They spoke of the dread "water treatment" that was inflicted by the Japanese. Sadaaki Konishi, a Japanese officer at Los Banos, was hanged by the US as a war criminal.

The world once looked to the USA as a force for good, now we're considering a man for head of the FBI who doesn't understand that waterboarding is torture and a crime. We have truly lost our way.

There can be no neutrality when it comes to torture, those who engage in it are criminals. Likewise,, those who sit on the fence and claim they do not know if "waterboarding" is torture do not deserve a place in public service, especially one with near dominion over the general public. Please deny Comey's nomination/confirmation to FBI Director.

Torture may or may not get "good" information...but it is always bad news for its victims, for those who do it,and for those who let them.

We all know that the REAL reason for torturing prisoners, is to get incorrect information that can be used to initiate or prolong wars. Besides that, we all know that only criminals, psychotics, and other "bad guys" torture people. If THIS GUY doesn't know right from wrong, he gets a THUMBS DOWN on any government position.

This is not the same free country which I was brainwashed to believe in way back before Reagan came along and began to destroy the social fabric of this nation in favour of the 1% and rich people getting richer. The American way now is to step on, dominate, and subjugate as many people as possible to get to the top. I no longer believe anything you ever have or will tell me again! Our children are among the stupidest in the world by test scores and that's something to be very ashamed of. Apparently we have no shame!

Why are we putting someone in a position like this when they have obviously committed war crimes? The fact that these people, including ex-president Bush, have gotten away with this is ridiculous. When will they be prosecuted as they should be?

Waterboarding is a crime. Please don't confirm James Comey or anyone who doesn't understand this to lead the FBI.

Since it is widely accepted that waterboarding constitutes torture, it is unwise to confirm someone who does not acknowledge that fact. We can and should do better in naming someone to such an important position.

I believe that President Obama should have gotten rid of ALL Bush-associated persons during his time as President.

He not only hasn't done that, but to submit the name of someone like Comey for consideration is simply looking for trouble where there isn't any.

I do believe that Bush and Cheney should be tried for war crimes, as well as their cohorts like Mr. Comey, and that Mr. Comey will have done nothing GOOD for the citizens of this country if/when he is appointed "administrate" any agency that requires the ability to actually identify a crime.

We CAN do much, much better in this country.

Please do not vote to confirm him.

After World War II Japanese officers were convicted, and one was sentenced to death, for the crime of waterboarding. In 1983, a sheriff in Texas was sentenced to 10 years of prison for the crime of waterboarding. So how is it that James Comey in 2002 could not figure out that it was a crime? But MORE importantly, how is it that he can now be considered for the job of head of the FBI with this abysmal record?

During his confirmation hearing for the head of the FBI, James Comey stated he could not determine in 2002 whether waterboarding was a crime or not. And what did we get as a country for committing in 2002 the crime of waterboarding? We got the false intelligence that was used to justify the strategically catastrophic invasion and occupation of Iraq. Nowadays, those who pushed for this ask rhetorically how they could have known the intelligence was unreliable? They got it by torturing people, that's how. So despite Comey's admirable resistance against another legal outrage which started in the same era, warrantless wiretapping, he remains insufficiently qualified to administrate an agency dedicated to investigating violations of the law. We can do better, and James Comey should not be confirmed.

Waterboarding is an important consideration when nominating someone like Mr. Comey. In my 30+ years as a federal employee, I have met many FBI employees. A few of them have been surprisingly sadistic in their ideas about handling the public when waterboarding came up in conversation. Anyone who "isn't sure" waterboarding is a crime absolutely needs to be rejected as head of the FBI. Period! The U.S., as a Superpower, must again set higher humane standards in dealing with all other nationals, as well as, with our own citizenry. It is the ONLY way toward achieving true national security. We must regain our status as a "beacon of light" in the darkness of oppression and violence. This is a very serious strategy.

Just because some of our representatives - who receive corporate cash from big money donors (some of whom are then awarded contracts to do business with the defense department, et al) - are too scared for their political lives to stand up and impeach those in executive office for their part in war crimes does not mean that those actions are not criminal. Something should still be done about it.

Who is this man trying to fool!!!! He knew what waterboarding was and what the people felt about the practice!! A liar is not who I want heading up the nations top law enforcement organization!!!!

Torture isn't legal, and those who are part of violating the Geneva Convention should go straight to the Hague to be prosecuted for war crimes, not given a position of extreme power. I am sure by his beliefs, he would have no problem abusing his power and would do exactly that, and make up excuses to justify this behavior. It's wrong, and we the people have been subject to abuse of power in all aspects of life. This one can be avoided.

We need to get rid of the supporters of torture.

maybe James Comey should try waterboarding

waterboarding dehumanizes the perpetrators while torture for the subjects.

A person who doesn't know what a crime is, isn't fit to be a member of a law enforcement agency.

To head the FBI, let's make the effort to look for someone who didn't have to rethink his views on waterboarding.

This powerful position must have a clear-thinking, courageous, humane, and insightful leader of the utmost integrity and intellectual strength. This is no
time in our national history to choose anyone less.

Torture is illegal, plain and simple. No waterboarding, force-feeding, solitary confinement, emotional manipulation, etc.
