It seemed like an extreme view, but now, sadly, we know it was correct. What we also know about NAFTA is that foreign companies can sue us for "loss of business opportunity" if we pass laws or deny them permission to do whatever it is that they want to do - case in point being the people behind Keystone XL. So what is it, exactly, that makes ANYONE think that the TPP, a SECRET trade deal, will be good for us? Will it be good for Boeing? Quite possibly, but that is NO reason whatsoever to think it will be good for the People - even for the citizens of Puget Sound, whom you represent. Please do NOT vote for Fast Track on this awful deal, and then, when TPP itself comes for a vote, please vote NO loudly and clearly. I know President Obama is no doubt putting pressure on his party - as did President Clinton - but please resist the pressure: just tell him your constituents made you do it! ********** [205547:032014] E.B., Seattle, WA Get out of NAFTA, WTO and all other so called "Free Trade Agreements". Go back to fair trade and tarrifs and we'll bring manufacturing back to the U.S.!!! ********** [082657:030914] R.P., Downingtown, PA I am damn sick and tired of big, fat, filthy rich, greedy,ARROGANT corporations having carte blanche privileges(for lack of a better word) over every aspect of peoples lives while "WE THE PEOPLE" are losing more and more. ********** [125902:013014] J.J., Camino, CA This is so damming to our future and so extremely unfair to the people of our country. Never allow anyone to grasp power like this, especially multinational corporations. We have been so slow to react to these businesses, for years we thought they were American corporations. We were blind, they are not American, but are for profit at any expense the world over. ANY EXPENSE! It is a shame to have such slimy black values, it is hard for normal people to believe, but we are not totally blind anymore. You have got to stop them in their tracks. One can never forget horrible revelations like this. Never give them power over our constitution or you would have just pushed the button to annihilate us. You Just say, oh, that's extreme. But deep down you know this is the truth, and we know that you know. These aren't secrets anymore so vote for our constitution or let one in the new generation take your seat. ********** [172749:012114] J.S., Bloomington, IN The TPP must be stopped -- it is profoundly against the public interest and would destroy our democracy. ********** [083932:011514] R.S., Saint Paul, MN Stop fast track approval of the TTP. Fast Track prevents our congress from understanding and debating the treaty provisions, and prevents citizen input. Artcle Vl of our constitution makes such treaties the law of the land, superceding our current laws. Please stop fast track ********** [053531:011314] L.H., Minneapolis, MN We already know what NAFTA did to American working people--TPP IS FAR WORSE. It's a complete POWER GRAB BY CORPORATIONS THAT DESTROYS DEMOCRACY!!!! Do NOT PASS THIS MONSTROSITY OF A LAW! ********** [022147:011014] d.l., Zanesville, OH yeh...Corporations, big biz...suck ********** [165449:010314] L.H., Baltimore, MD Not only another example of the financial oligarchy that has replaced democracy in America, but another Obama betrayal of the promise of transparency in government. ********** [115303:010314] A.G., Seattle, WA I absolutely oppose the de-regulation of trade, banking and corporations, and I think that the World Trade Organization and NAFTA were both bad deals and should be repealed. I do not believe in Friedman Economics or any economic theory that says that business should have no regulations or should not be liable to government controls meant to protect people and the environment. As long as the President and Congress continue to pursue this faulty economic idea of a totally free and uncontrolled market, the entire country will suffer - nay, the entire world. ********** [131522:122913] J.M., Albuquerque, NM The secret proposal known as the Trans Pacific Partnership contains some of the worst ideas ever. Why our so-called leaders would consider it is beyond comprehension. It has been leaked that it would give multinational corporations veto power over national and local protections for workers and the environment, even if they are the law of the land. The TPP should be stopped before any of its provisions go into effect. Stop the TPP now. ********** [125629:122913] J.M., Albuquerque, NM The secret proposal known as the Trans Pacific Partnership has some of the worst ideas ever. It has been leaked that it would allow multinational corporations veto power over national and local protections for the environment and workers, even if they are the law of the land. That is enough reason to end it before it starts. Stop it now. ********** [081945:122613] S.F., New York, NY We need diversity for a healthy global economy. Diversity and competition, and this partnership will kill both. Please do not support it! ********** [021916:122213] J.M., Sylva, NC Stop the Trans Pacific Partnership now, before it is too late. ********** [205655:122113] K.S., Lyons, CO These days there are millions of people living their lives completely unconscious of what is going on in the world around them. This is unfortunate but it is also by design. The fast track provision in our legislature is yet another product of the scheme to keep the masses in the dark, as a form of control. The only thing our society really needs (to control itself) is education. Transparency and disclosure in our government is absolutely necessary. Everyone must oppose fast track ignorance and secretive policy such as the insane Trans Pacific Partnership. ********** [040949:122013] R.R., Ambler, PA Allyson Schwartz is aware of my rejection of this Partnership and I urged he to vote against it. Add all the other Members of Congress to that direction. Reject the TPP! Let's create jobs in the U.S. for Americans! ********** [144127:121913] C.P., Portland, OR It is bad enough that many US imports are not subject to the same envirnmental and labor safeguards existing here. To codify in law the exemption of global corporations from all national regulation is unacceptable. The market unabridged does not protect human rights or health. ********** [215232:121813] P.H., Sutherlin, OR Why the secrecy? We the people are supposed to be the government in this country, NOT the 1% or the corporate elite. We must protect our sovereign national right to legislate, adjudicate and regulate according to OUR national laws. We must reclaim the power of the people to determine those national laws also, and to be the ones who appoint the regulators. If we do this we will never surrender our natural freedom of self-government to corporate, (and even worse, MULTI-NATIONAL corporate) tyranny and exploitation! ********** [203757:121813] S.B., Arkville, NY Democracy must trust the people, be open with them and give them factual and truthful information about proposed legislation. ********** [182505:121813] B.C., Seattle, WA Do not give corporations this type of power it will wreak our protections for democratic processes and our healthy environment which is already under great attack. ********** [033831:121813] A.S., Philadelphia, PA Granting corporations this kind of power is equivalent to giving them the keys to permanently lock up democracy, environmental protections, and consumer welfare. ********** [142504:121713] P.O., Thonotosassa, FL This unjust and unbelievable treaty and secret process does nothing to boost the economy and well being of Americans, it only increases corporate profits and power. You should be ashamed of this treasonous act. ********** [121742:121713] L.R., Columbus, OH The "Trans Pacific Partnership" is no such thing because no corporate oligarchy is a genuine partnership. It is actually an elite...even under "partnership" labeling. And the truth should be told. ********** [104647:121713] S.G., Boulder, CO Previous agreements, such as NAFTA, have stripped good manufacturing jobs from the US while harming the environment in Mexico (which comes back to us in the form of tainted vegetables). Please vote to preserve government BY the people, not by corporations. ********** [092853:121713] A.L., Portland, OR This is a corporate attempt at getting more powerful than any corporation ever should in all fairness. ********** Go Back |
