Release SB1272 From Suspense

**********

The only way to protect the integrity of our government is to
get the money out of our election process. Reversing Citizen
United steps in that direction. SB1272 currently on hold....
PLEASE REMOVE and call for vote. I question the integrity of
any elected official who would put such legislation in a "SUSPENSE" file!

It is an absurdity to think that an intangible organisation of interchangable persons who cannot be held responsible for their actions can be called "person" and have "free speech", or that money can be that speech. This is a flight of fancy, a legal fantasy with no basis in reality. Corporations are obviously not people, they cannot have a right to speech.
So long as laws can be bought and sold by and to the highest bidder we can have no justice and no democracy.
Let's get SB1272 off the table and out for a vote right now.

Government works for corporations now, not the people, because of Citizens United. We must stop this and return to government for the people.

Dump anti democratic Citizens United! NOW!

Perhaps you have heard this, it rings true: I will believe corporations are people when Texas executes one! That money is speech is equally absurd. We will never get money out of politics, but we must not facilitate corruption by putting it on steroids.

The opportunity to vote on SB 1272 is of exceptional, even historic, importance to the future of democracy. The voters of CA are seized with this issue. Please release SB 1272 from the suspense file, and let us vote on it!

It will be the end of democracy in America if we don't stop this corrupting flow of money into our election process!

Keep the US from returning to the Robber Baron days, where the middle class and the poor were just pawns for the Robber Barons to use.

It is a dangerous precedent to give legal entities constitutional rights. Unfortunately, in this age of mass media, money is speech because those who can afford to buy time control the discussion. To level the playing field, contributions to entities engaged in political should be regulated.

Please allow all of us Californians to decide an issue which is so important to all of us.

This is the most important issue of our time. Only our democracy is at stake. MONEY OUT, VOTERS IN.

We cannot afford not to fight this issue.

We, the undersigned, argue that 'Citizens United v. FEC', and all cases for which it set precedent, were designed purposely to permit the dominance of multibillionaires over the government, that these multibillionaires, in their desire for 'profit at any cost', have ruined much of the United States, an threaten countless lives, that their dominance is incompatible with the existence of a true Republic, and, therefore, that the cases cited, represent the infiltration of the government by hostile agents, in the interest of usurpation. Hence, we believe that the decisions be repealed, and restrictions placed on the operations of billionaires, multimillionaires, and millionaires of every kind, in politics.

Please release this for a vote. The citizens of our country know this idea of corporations being defined as people is wrong and a total sell out of what is left of our democracy.
The people want to review this and vote. It is still our right.
Please release this so that we may exercise this right.
Thank you

This country was founded to escape and replace the rule of monetary and aristocratic power. It's been the forerunner in the world as a place were someone who studied by candlelight in a one room cabin could become president. It's been the land where the voice with the least money earned the same respect and power as that with the most. All of this is threatened as is America's position as the land of dreams today as those with the most money assume the most power and influence. In the last decades, we've begun moving toward the very political imbalance and injustice that incited the early population our nation into revolt and war. We now tread a dangerous path toward the rich and powerful ruling disconnected from and ignoring the needs of the masses of our country. That can be easily seen in the "occupy" protests. The American people will not continue to accept their welfare being pushed aside for the greed of our nation's wealthy and large corporations. Government reform should be swift and exacting in returning the balance of power in driving our nation into the future.

To remove restrictions on campaign finances ultimately removes the voice of the common man and woman in favor of the voice of the wealthy and large corporations. To diminish the voice of our nation's foundation population, is to restrict and hinder our country as a whole. To diminish the importance of individuals upon the growth and future of society, is to diminish the sum total of all of America's parts. The people of our nation must have a voice in decisions such as this for our constitution and founding philosophies to have meaning.

Government, society, and individuals should be driving our future as a nation to be its most prosperous and proud for all, not just for a privileged few.

For our country to regain its place as the land of opportunity and for its masses to prosper, money and power need to be used to enrich our country as a whole. To allow the removal of campaign financing restrictions is to simply take more voice and power from the foundation of our nation...its everyday people...while obligating those in political positions to powers disinterested in the needs and welfare of the masses supporting both. To allow this to happen is a grave injustice to the people of our country as well as a prosperous future for it. The American government must allow the American people to be heard and their opinions respected and acted upon.

Sincerely,
Jeffrey C. West

TIME TO RETURN THIS COUNTRY BACK TO THE PEOPLE.

Please release SB1272 from Suspense: it would be so great to think that my vote might still matter - perhaps even as much as that of corporations and big money donors. So many of us really care about this, and we will have your backs: please act now!

Please release SB1272 from Suspense so that we may start the process of returning the Constitution to the people -- by allowing one vote per registered voter without the massive and corrupting influence from huge corporate "donations".
