He and his cronies invited this when Bush signed a bill that was nothing more than an incentive for factory owners in America to close and ship jobs. It was actually a tax break, of all things, and many factory owners took advantage of it. So much for patriotism among the owners! RepubliCONS have blocked legislation, on several occasions, introduced by DEMS to reverse it. ********** [151357:030316] m.S., Fort Lauderdale, FL I'm seriously converned about the problems associated with the TPP and other such projects. For the moment there's not much I can do, I'm not a multi-billionaire. Longterm plans should involve a constitutional amendment that prohibits USA participation in any agreement of any nature that allows other countryies to override our national will. ********** [172254:021516] k.o., Seattle, WA We don't need to provide TransCanada and similar corporations and back-door deals the ability to undermine and block our own LAWS! ********** [172338:021416] L.L., Alexandria, VA The TPP is corporate managed trade and it takes sovereignty away from living breathing human beings. ********** [182406:012816] H.H., Madison, WI The TPP means more export of good American jobs, more unsafe food products flooding our markets, higher drug prices, and greater threats to our even our sovereignty by foreign corporations empowered to claim damages against us in rigged tribunals outside of our legal system. ********** [112357:012816] M.B., Provo, UT Please don't allow this partnership to continue. ********** [221347:012716] J.P., Sonoma, CA NO to TPP. NO to TTIP. NO to TISA. ********** [150040:012516] S.E., North Hollywood, CA It is both trajic and unbelievable that our government keeps selling our country short ********** [082313:012116] k.w., Quincy, FL Time to absolutely choose clean water and public land. ********** [012633:012016] L.Y., Bloomington, CA There is little that will benefit Americans in the TPP trade agreement so please veto it when it comes up for a vote. What is most disturbing and the most anti-democratic part of the TPP is the Investor State Dispute Settlement which gives corporations the power to over turn our laws for food and safety, the environment, and labor protections. Oh, I know that the corporations don't legislate, but when they sue the U.S. offshore in front of a corporate tribunal for supposed loss of profits caused by our laws, Congress will not waste a moment to change the the said law to keep from paying the penalties. Case in point--the WTO recently ruled that our Country of Origin labeling law caused Canada and Mexico loss of profits and Congress almost immediately repealed this law which was favored by the majority of Americans. And now TransCanada has filed a suit under NAFTA for $15 billions dollars of loss profits because President Obama denied the Keystone pipeline. I wonder how long it will take before Congress tries to override that decision. It is time to put Americans and our democracy first and say no to the TPP that will do very little for the workers, but lots for the corporations. ********** [005033:012016] B.D., Citrus Heights, CA Trade agreements should be negotiated in public by our elected officials. Instead, our so-called leader acted as a lackey to corporate lobbyists and allowed them to negotiate the TPP trade agreement behind closed doors, and then gave it his blessing. This is a disgrace! And our elected officials betrayed *their* duty by choosing to vote on it without discussion or amendment. All we need is TransCanada's lawsuit against the U.S. for denying them the Keystone Pipeline to know that globalization is a mistake, we don't need more of it. ********** [144139:011916] J.S., Las Cruces, NM TPP and all its parts are bad for America. We must stop the Cabal Business Syndicates from getting control of our tax dollars to be used against Americans. JWS ********** [135036:011916] G.K., Novato, CA Stop the TPP! It would be a total disaster for American jobs, a disaster for American sovereignty, and for the environment. It would put the continuation of life on earth as we know it in jeopardy and it would greatly diminish human dignity! Enough! People are more important than corporate profits! Stop the TPP or there will be a revolution! We are fed up with the rampant corporate greed and corruption that runs the show on planet earth. Our planet, our freedom, our dignity, our very lives are at stake! ********** [115450:011916] P.W., Arvada, CO The TPP will put all our citizens in bondage to the large corporations and do irreparable damage to efforts to save the environment. I am a voter. I will not vote for any candidate who supports the TPP. I am so disappointed in President Obama for supporting this agreement which will destroy our freedoms. ********** [111651:011916] A.Z., Embudo, NM WE HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFULLY SUED UNDER NAFTA, AND ANOTHER HAS BEEN FILED. IF YOU THINK THIS IS BAD, JUST WAIT UNTIL THE TPP IS IN EFFECT. YOU MIGHT JUST AS WELL TAKE A LONG VACATION, BECAUSE OUR LAWS WILL BE ENACTED BY OTHER COUNTRIES AND/OR MULTINATIONAL CORPORATIONS. ********** [225318:011816] G.S., Elk, CA Please Vote No on the TPP! ********** [213401:011816] a.b., Syracuse, NY stop the tpp and it's nasty agenda ********** [204349:011816] J.E., Little Rock, AR It is long past time for environmental and human health concerns to be given priority over unbridled profits! ********** [192930:011816] M.M., Arvada, CO The TPP is handing off our land, environment, food, water, resources and our freedoms to multi-national corporations. This trade deal will destroy jobs, make our food unsafe and bring down our standard of living. The deal must stop for the sake the future, human life and the Earth. Think of future for all our children. ********** [182436:011816] S.D., Glencoe, CA The TPP means more export of good American jobs, more unsafe food products flooding our markets, higher drug prices, and greater threats to our even our sovereignty by foreign corporations empowered to claim damages against us in rigged tribunals outside of our legal system. ********** [140712:011816] C.H., Peyton, CO It's always okay to have these filthy, environmentally damaging projects backed unless it goes through your own backyard. WE DO NOT WANT THIS PROJECT and WE SHOULD NOT BE FORCED TO PAY THIS FINE! It is our land!!! ********** [121014:011816] G.B., Santa Barbara, CA Please use the power with which you've been entrusted to reject TPP in the interests of the safety and well-being of the people of the USA. We are already a great market for corporate investment, we do not need to overturn our national sovereignty and ability to regulate ourselves in order to make investors safer. There is plenty of upside in US investment already. Do not allow us to be exploited as TPP will allow. Thank you. ********** [061447:011816] A.S., New York, NY If you believe in democracy you should be against the TPP ********** [005845:011816] A.G., Eugene, OR We have already given away enough jobs and enough of our sovereignty to other countries and to multi-national corporations who care nothing for freedoms, or our Constitution, but only for the exorbitant profits they can continue to squeeze out of each and every one of us, all the while telling us to "pull ourselves up by our bootstraps". It is high time to no longer be giving our boots away, much less the bootstraps that we are supposed to be pulling on. It is time to stop this TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership) giveaway of our rights, once and for all. ********** Go Back |
