I have higher deductibles, higher co-pays, higher premiums, and less coverage every time I renew my health coverage. As a provider working in geriatric health care, I repeatedly run across individuals who have tricked into dropping their Medicare coverage for a Medicare replacement HMO. These seniors often think they have purchased a supplement, or have been maliciously lied to that the new plan is better than Medicare. The insurers take their premiums and consistently deny or otherwise dictate coverage. For the provider, it is not uncommon to spend 3 hours on the phone with a reviewer (who get bonuses for denying care). We have gotten precertifications approved, recertifications approved and have still been denied payment by insurance. How long are YOU, our representatives going to allow to this travesty to continue. Take care of our people!
