California has always led the nation by passing legislation and the nation has usually followed our state. It is again time for us to lead by example and the rest of the nation will follow.

The Feds aren't going to release the medicaid funding to California for single-payer, they don't want to risk a state's success at their corporate insurance companies' expense. But to just say "it needs more work," of course it does and shelving it won't move it forward. And certainly shows no will or vision by the state government...where shall we put our hope for sane and just healthcare? And don't pull that defeatist view of "we will become unpopular and lose the majority," there would never have been civil rights if that was the over-riding fear.

Dear Assemblymember Thurmond:
(Sen. Skinner, I thank you for leading on this important issue.)
Passing SB562 is incredibly important, all the more so since Congress is likely to pass a law that eliminates insurance coverage for many millions.
Yes, it will require steps to fund it, but plenty of opportunities exist for that: eliminate Prop. 13 caps on taxes for businesses, add a tax or 'royalty' for gas and oil extracted from CA, increase taxes in the highest brackets (these individuals have gotten windfall after windfall in federal tax cuts in recent years), and many others.
If you want to stand on the right side of history, you will push for single-payer health care.
Maybe put more pressure on Speaker Rendon and other "leaders."

If Democrats don't advocate for what's right when they have a supermajority in each house of state govt. then they should be ashamed of themselves.
Keep in mind that overall health costs will likely drop if everyone is covered because people will seek treatment earlier when their conditions are less advanced, ER visits will drop, etc.
Please don't give up on this, keep pushing among your colleagues to get this passed in the Assembly.
Martha Naomi Alt

Single Payer HC is the only answer to solving our health insurance issues. Other countries do it successfully, lowering costs and improving service. Why can't we do it??? Vote Yes.

I wept in a hospital when I saw that many who were ill were not getting the generally excellent care that my well-insured husband received.

If I could vote for Mr. Rendon, I'd certainly vote for the other woman. He's a losing Democrat.

I support SB 562 for single payer health care in CA because it is one of the many responsibilities in a democratic society to care for those in need.

Establishing a tax-funded single-payer health care system may be but one of a dozen important issues we must address, but it is an imperative, and is exactly what our government should be doing to promote the general welfare.

I want single payer healthcare not because I have a medical condition currently, but because I want to live in a society in which people-care is built into the system, generating a standard of goodwill that radiates throughout. Single-payer also saves money and lives.

I will financially support Democratic candidates who stand for Single Payer and other progressive programs but not those who only promote "Don't Vote for Trump" I originally contributed to Osoff but when he ignored his base to appeal to 'moderate Republicans' I quit contributing. Demo candidates shouldn't take Progressive votes for granted. We can stay home.

We need to LEAD in California, especially when it comes to Universal Health Care, not act like we are an extention of the pitiful morass that is the republican party. As a Democrat, for as long as I have had the experience to understand what drives politics in this country, I am appalled at the way we are acting like we are somehow inferior to the criminally insane republicans, especially in the total disregard that they exhibit toward anyone who is aging, infirm or financially unable stand up to the insurance industry and medical industry lobbyists! WE HAVE A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO LEAD THIS COUNTRY INTO NEW ERA IN MEDICAL CARE AND RESPONSIBLE TREATMENT OF ALL PEOPLE AS OUR HEALTH CARE NEEDS, ALONG WITH THE ENTIRE MEDICAL INDUSTRY EVOLVES! Putting SB562 on the shelf will not accomplish anything other than hand the conversation over to greedy republicans and undermine all of our ability to succeed! Please do the hard work that you were elected to do and help this great state lead the rest of our country to a better way to deliver health care and manage the cost by embracing Single Payer Heathcare NOW!

This is the issue that will help Democrats get back in the game.
I won't be donating any more of my money to a party that doesn't have real vision.

Let's make this happen people! Let's set the example and tell Washington that CA doesn't have time for their bureaucratic BS! Don't just "fluff" this bill aside! Get it done, even if it's not perfect, we can revise it as we go! Finally, always remember that our elected leaders work for us and not their own personal gain! Do the right thing people and get busy!!

show some genuine initiative and get this damn thing done as long as you want to brag about what a wonderful superior State you are. I'm tired of the ceaseless bait and switch BS games the government, State and Federal, are pulling.

Uh, you realize how popular single payer HEALTH CARE is? I vote on issues not on Party. So, how much did Assembly member Rendon sell us out?

IT IS TIME!!!

The people want single payer health Insurance for ALL!
Not voting for a good bill will assure us that you don't have your constituent's best interest at heart!

If Democrats such as Rendon continue to ignore single payer healthcare, they will continue to lose elections. Do what your constituents have asked--Stop being corporate sycophants!
